Winter Equinox

Ok, the winter equinox is here along with climate change. The failure of the nations to address climate change with a strong and binding agreement is no surprise. It is foolish to expect the nations and the politicos to save us or the planet. They are on the way out. Their time has lapsed. We must take it on ourselves. If we want real justice, I’m afraid that there is just us. Already many are doing a lot: http://yert.com/, transitiontowns.org, among others. I recommend you check them out. It makes sense to take local inititiative. To become self-reliant and independent as possible. That is and was the purpose of this website; to create a low-tech (or high) self-sustainable infrastructure to hedge against collapse and to improve the lives of all, by becoming in harmony with nature. It is happening albeit on a small scale relatively. Help build the wave to bring it to critical mass to turn the tide. It is a fullfilling way to live your life, also, the most sane and intelligent in my opinion.

Transition towns makes so much sense. I was advocating organizing your small community to chip in and buy a huge wind turbine that can bring electricity to 1000 or more homes. This is only one idea to take us in a safer direction. Find a way to be funded so that your time spent organizing is also supporting you financially. I have been volunteering at Sunseed Community (sunseed.uk.org/) in southern Spain. They have been committed to this kind of lifestyle for 20 years. They are off the grid entirely and are incrementally making their way to independent living with appropriate technology.

There are more and more intentional communities/ ecovillages doing this and we need to share information, hopefully here. Please send us your videos or your links to your videos on youtube. Wikipedia is a great example of how to use the internet to share information. Google has evolved into that as well. I believe that everything is here now to do this, it just takes the will to do it. Since there is such huge numbers of people living in cities, we need to do these things in cities as well. Its a huge endeavor, but no one can say its impossible until we have all tried. Do you remember how fast cell phones spread across the world, the internet as well, this can too. I’m just one small voice, we need everyone’s voice.
